KNIJ
KNIJ (Klimaatnatuurlijk IJsselstein) is a grassroots initiative. Since 2017, they have been the central stakeholder dedicated to maintaining and future proofing the fruit tree collection. They also created the official website for the fruit collection, where a diversity of projects can be seen. KNIJ is the initiator and facilitator of most of those projects. KNIJ is in collaboration with the other stakeholders.
Boomkroon
Douwe Kappers of Boomkroon is the organic grower that grafts and grows our unique apples and pears in collaboration with KNIJ, commissioned by the Municipality of IJsselstein.
Pomona
Dirk van Ziel of Pomona, fruit expert, is well known in the region. With his professionalism and passion, has taken care of our fruit tree collection for years. He has also provided the substantial information for the Tree Management Plan 2020-2025. Besides, he has created lists of the unique varieties, as preparation of the grafting programme (He does not have a website).
Laarman Groen Advies
Carin Laarman has created the Nature Values Map for IJsselstein. She has assisted KNIJ since 2017 with organizing and structuring the inventory and making a start with mapping on the GIS system. She has extensive experience in assisting at meetings with officialdom, Bioblitz and the larger projects.
Natuur, Groen& Beleving
Hans Lappee has, as councilor of IJsselstein, taken care of the continuation of the fruit collection. He is also the initiator of the book Apples & Pears that originally came out in 2008.
He is a volunteer, working for KNIJ at the continuation process [C.W.1] of our collection. Furthermore, he has done the work of maintaining the espalier collection from 2019-2023 as the professional gardener. From 2019 until now, he has maintained and restored the hazel tree collection.
University of Applied Sciences van Hall Larenstein
In collaboration with the University: in 2020 en 2021 research projects around the fruit collection, like stakeholders, BioBlitz, eco system services etc.

Formal owner of the fruit collection, inclusive of financials and they are the official client for contractors.

George M. Otter
Founding Father of our fruit tree collection. Between 1970 and 2000 he sourced hundreds of fruit species from England, Hungary, Russia, the US. In numerous instances he grafted the trees and grew them here in IJsselstein, during his career as head of the Parks Department. After his retirement he provided us with older information that was challenging to find. And he did maintenance on the espalier collection that he had planted years before!
Nexpri
Coen Wessels, GIS-expert of Nexpri has assisted KNIJ in putting all data in the GIS system and he maintains it (from 2017 to now).
Geonovation
Software company behind the GIS system, that provided us with the software back in 2017. They helped us with exploring the use of a digital notification system, used for (example) damages or other problems with the trees.
